Fat Cells from Obese People are “Stressed”
We’ve been aware for some time of the relationship between obesty and type 2 Diabetes. In a recent issue of “Diabetes” researchers from Temple University School of Medicine report finding differences and deficits in the fat cells of the obese. It’s reported that the fat cells showed stres on the endoplasmic reticulum and the tissue was inflamed. The stressed ER are not as effective in helping to synthesize proteins. This may contribute to insulin resistance.
