Infertility and Stress

We seem to accept the fact that in our culture, stress is pervasive and chronic.  We’ve lost sight of the fact that what we call “stress” is actually the General Adaptation Syndrome or fight or flight response.  It was meant to save us from an attacking tiger- a short burst of energy.

One physiologic response to stress is to shut down the reproductive systems.  Why would we want to bring another human being into a stessful world?  a world where there is danger or lack of resources to support?

Have you ever noticed that many couples struggle to become pregnant, adopt a child and promptly have a healthy pregnancy?

Managing stress can eliminate many “infertilty issues” and double the success rate of IVF if the treatment reaches that point.  Check out my wonderful Guided Imagery CD that has led to many healthy pregnancies.
