Larger Waistline=Higher Cardiac Risk
It is no surprise to hear that a large study reported online April 7 in the journal Circulation: Heart Failure found that an increase in waist circumference alone was a significant predictor of heart disease, regardless of other measures. In women, BMI was a significant predictor ony if they had a large waist measurement.
The researchers concluded that a 4 inch increase in waist size was associated with a 15% increase in risk for heart disease. One more reason to eat well and exercise.
