I have to wonder as I listen to the concerns and contingency plans for the potential swine flu pandemic, and with respect for the good that Western medicine does, how have people overlooked or ignored the harm done by our health care system.
As an RN and in my personal life, I have seen many people suffer significant harm including death because of medical interventions. If I extrapolate my experience and multiply by each other RN, the number of deaths would be significant. Instead, I googled several related terms and ask for your thoughts about an article I discovered.
Death By Medicine By Gary Null, PhD; Carolyn Dean MD, ND; Martin Feldman, MD; Debora Rasio, MD; and Dorothy Smith, PhD. A group of researchers reviewed statistical evidence looking at a variety of areas in which patients have experienced less than optimal outcomes and sometimes death as a result of medical interventions. The results are appalling. This fully referenced report suggests that 783,936 people in the US die each year as a result of medical care. This figure surpasses those who died of heart conditions 699,697 and cancer 553,251.(2001 figures).
I hope you will take some time to review and comment on this.
